Reading quartet, frontman Matt Thompson, guitarist Chris Alderton, bassist Elliot Briggs and drummer Joe Emmett had played together for a decade before embarking on their second Rock phase.  Toying with an Indie and Electro sound they went back to their original starting point and haven't looked back.  In 2014 they began writing new material and rehearsing and choosing the name The Amazons inspired from the Swallows and Amazons novel title.

2015 saw the band supporting The Kooks in Europe and having their debut single "Junk Food Forever" produced by Grammy nominated Catherine Marks, who had previously worked with PJ Harvey and Wolf Alice.  After appearing on the BBC Introducing stage at Reading Festival they got to working on their debut album.

After just several songs released as singles and E.P.'s the band's rise has been quite rapid since 2014.   Gaining notable support from the media and fans alike, as well as Radio DJ's Nick Grimshaw, Annie Mac, Zane Lowe and Steve Lamacq.

The band play an Indie/Alternative Rock power sound which is very accomplished from such a young band.  The songs "Ultraviolet" and "In My Mind" showcase the band brilliantly.  The Amazons are here and the world needs to take notice.  Their storming debut album, "The Amazons" is out now, check out this new Rock power foursome!
