GUNS N' ROSES "USE YOUR ILLUSION II" 1991 CIVIL WAR - The second album in the "Use Your Illusion" twinset opens with this fourth single that reached number 11 in the UK chart.  A melancholic, poignant yet powerful Rock track is a brilliant peace anthem. 14 YEARS - A hard rockin' Blues track with Izzy Stradlin and singer Axl Rose sharing the vocals at times.  A guitar driven track merging with piano in a blistering partnership, YESTERDAYS - Yet another anthemic ballad from the band with some lush, emotive guitar from Slash.  The third single released from the album reaching number 8 in the UK chart.  Classic and one of my favourites to sing along to. KNOCKIN' ON HEAVEN'S DOOR - Released as the second single from this set it reached number 2 on the UK chart.  Once again (like "Live And Let Die" on the "...Illusion I" album) the cover sounds better than the original.  Brilliant track. GET IN THE RING - Apparently "notorio

PRINCE AND THE REVOLUTION - "AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAY" 1985

PRINCE AND THE REVOLUTION "AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAY" 1985 AROUND THE WORLD IN A DAY - The title track opens up this 7th album by Prince and the second official set with The Revolution.  It is a Psychedelic Pop track with various distorted backing vocals and effects that give the scene as being 60s hippie time. It's a great easy going opener that is both spiritual and experimental.   PAISLEY PARK - The second single to be lifted from the set and reaching number 18 in the UK chart.  It is more like late 60s Progressive Rock than the previous uptempo "Raspberry Beret" and surprisingly went higher.  I always liked this song, its a little off key, its sound is like nothing I heard before and the chorus is strangely catchy. CONDITION OF THE HEART - An anthemic epic Prince ballad, coming in at almost 7 minutes.  Mostly piano backing with various choral vocals.  Prince uses his full range here and for me its a little long and not up there with the best ballads by

TYRANNOSAURUS REX   "MY PEOPLE WERE FAIR AND HAD SKY IN THEIR HAIR...BUT NOW THEY'RE CONTENT TO WEAR STARS ON THEIR BROWS" 1968 HOT ROD MAMA - The debut album by the band (later to be named just T-Rex) was performed by Marc Bolan and Steve Peregrine Took.  This opening track is a smooth, uptempo Blues Rock Folk with a blistering pace.  A great opening number.   SCENESCOF - This is a really nice Eastern sounding ballad with its slow drawn out vocals backed by a suprisingly quicker music.  Chilled. CHILD STAR - An eerie sounding mix of 60s Psychedelic Rock and mystical Folk. Experimentally cool. STRANGE ORCHESTRA - A quirky, fun Folk Pop track reminding me a little of The Monkees. Lots od "doo doo" vocals and it rocks along merrily.  It sounds like Marc and Steve had a little merriment here.   CHATEAU IN VIRGINIA WATERS - A light Blues Rock track which is similar to certain tracks by The Kinks.  Typical 60s casual Rock Pop. DAWRFISH TRUMPET BLUES - Cool ex
