AROUND THE WORLD - A frenetic start to the album with the usual Rap Funk Rock as is the Chilis well known style.  With the searing guitar riffs, pumping percussion and Anthony Kiedis' variety of vocal styles this is the perfect beginning.

PARALLEL UNIVERSE - With its unusual Europop throbbing Electro beat merging into the blasting Hard Rock chorus.  Clever, experimental and top stuff.

SCAR TISSUE - One of my favourite Chili's tracks.  A laid back almost Acoustic Blues Rock track with a little Folk style vocals.  Awesome anthemic guitars.
 
 

OTHERSIDE - A classy Alternative Rock track, almost Grunge style of the 90s.  This apparently deals with addicts' problems with their previous addictions.  A dark meaning but a great song.

GET ON TOP - Classic Chili Peppers simialr to "Give It Away", hard Funk Rock with Rap interludes and exquisite funky bass from Flea.

CALIFORNICATION - One of the band's best songs in my opinion.  Anthony shows his vocals have gone up a notch in quality from previous albums.  Almost Progressive Rock/Classic Rock crossover.  Absolutely love this song, driving backing music, great vocals and a memorable chorus.
 
 


EASILY - This track is pretty much like New Wave Punk from the late 70s, early 80s.  Has moments that remind me of The Clash and Elvis Costello.  A gem. 

PORCELAIN - A dreamlike, emotive, almost lullaby track which is sweet and melancholic.

EMIT REMMUS - Punk meets Grunge in this track with some Classic Rock screeching guitars adding substance to the track.  A stomping track.

I LIKE DIRT - Reminds me of early 80s INXS, Funky Rock Pop at its best.

THIS VELVET GLOVE - Similar in style to "Scar Tissue" for the most part with some fleeting brash Rock parts.

SAVIOR - Superb Rock vocals from Anthony with intermittent 60s style harmonies thrown in.  This track is proof that Kiedis is not a one trick pony with the Rock Rap vocal, he really uses his range here.  A midtempo melancholic 70s Progressive Rock style song.

PURPLE STAIN - A really funky workout track.  Love this, almost Disco Funk merging with Rock backing.

RIGHT ON TIME - A frenetic, atmospheric hippie style merges with Progressive Rock, Classic Rock, Rap and Eurodisco.  Another experimental gem.

ROAD TRIPPIN' - An almost Country Folk track, a quirky, melancholi, dreamlike little ditty that is brilliant.

"MADONNA"   1983 LUCKY STAR - The opening track is a Disco Pop song, which became her trademark for this debut album before moving into more Pop areas in her next few albums.  Its mid tempo beats and twangy guitars and elctro synths made this an accessible staple to radio airplay connecting to a variety of listeners.  Classic Madonna. BORDERLINE - A change of direction after the first upbeat song, this is a kind of Pop ballad set to a Disco track.  Some lovely harmonies and became her first top ten hit in the USA.  A Reggie Lucas written composition and it gave Madonna chance to explore her vocals and conveying emotion in her songs.  One of my favourites. BURNING UP - One of my top songs by Madonna.  Similar to the later "Gambler".  It is a fast paced Disco beat laden track with a rockier twist with random guitar riffs.  A real gem.     I KNOW IT - This track is keyboard led and has a nice 60s Pop/Rock N' Roll vibe akin to the later "True Blue".  A

"DURAN DURAN" 1981 GIRLS ON FILM - This debut album by the band opens with this brilliant New Wave track.  Their breakthrough single in the UK chart reaching number 5.  Its cheeky and somewhat sarcastic lyrics about the glamour and glitz of the modelling industry are backed by an irresistible pumping rhythm and keyboard and guitar accompanient.  Its just a classic Duran Duran song and a classic 80s song as well.  Top opener.   PLANET EARTH - The debut single only reached number 12 in the UK chart.  This is more Synth Pop Disco than the previous track.  Again with the pumping rhythm but more experimental than "Girls On Film" and the chorus is not as catchy but still engaging to be a great song.   ANYONE OUT THERE - This is one of my favourite Duran Duran tracks, it has a more rockier guitar backing.  Also a funky bass appears with echoed vocals in one segment.  This is more Pop Rock and as the band proved with their album tracks in the future, this was more than ju

     "PURPLE RAIN"  "1984" LET'S GO CRAZY - The abum opens with the famous church organ sounding out with a little Prince-like "sermon" before firing up a blistering funky Rock anthem that is one of my favourite songs by the man.  The single was the 2nd single release from the album and along with its B-side "Take Me With U" hit number 7 in the UK chart.  If previous releases wan't enough proof this track shows Prince the brilliant guitarist.   TAKE ME WITH U - As previously stated this was a double A-side of "Let's Go Crazy" which radio sometimes played as an alternative.  Sung as a duet with Apollonia Kotero (the female lead in the "Purple Rain" movie) with co-vocals by Jill Jones and Lisa Coleman.  A melodic easy going romantic track with strings bringing down the pace a bit after the opening track. THE BEAUTIFUL ONES - One of Prince's most loved sexy, lustful, emotionally charged romantic ballads.  Altho
